posted by ANONYMOUS "GUY"  //  admin, lead investigator, the only one still paying the hosting bill

I am not giving you my name. Call me Guy. That is not my name, that is the whole damn point. A placeholder. A nobody. An Anonymous “Guy” so they have got nothing to pull on. I have been running this case for eleven years and three people who helped me build this archive are gone, so do me the courtesy of reading the whole damn thing before you email me the word "hoax."

I will stake every piece of gear I own on this: Deep Heart, Texas is real, and the reason nobody can pin it down is that it does not stay in one place. It MOVES. That is the whole thing, and the debunkers are too damn lazy to even consider it. They go, "well there's no town at those coordinates," and they pack up and go home, and they never once ask the obvious damn question, which is: what if it isn't AT coordinates? What if it relocates?

People keep calling it an "urban legend." I hate that phrase. A legend is a story that sits still so you can dismiss it over a beer. This is not that. I have 47 logged reports going back to ’94, not that any of you were even born back then, and I have six confirmed road signs. Not ONE of them shares a location. Same green sign. DEEP HEART, TX. Hill Country, every time. But survey it twice and the road's gone, the brush has closed up, and your GPS swears you were never there. That is not a story. That is a phenomenon that is actively dodging the survey.

And before you say I'm reaching, read the name. DEEP HEART. Say it fast. DEPART. You think that's cute? You think I bought deepharttexas.com for a pun? I bought it because the name is a damn warning. The town is telling you to leave. No. I have read too many of these reports to keep saying it that soft. The town is telling you it will take you, and people drive toward it anyway.

Go ahead. Google it right now. Type "Deep Heart Texas" into whatever search box you trust and watch what happens, which is nothing. No Wikipedia stub. No county page. No local news, no message board, no church bulletin, not one damn pin on a map. A real ghost town leaves a paper trail. A hoax leaves a hundred copycat pages. This leaves freakin NOTHING, and nothing on the internet is not natural, it is maintained. I have watched it happen in real time, a thread goes up, screenshots, coordinates, and inside a day it is gone, account and all, like a hand reached in and wiped the glass clean. Somebody is scrubbing it. And before you ask: yes, I know which organization. No, I am not going to type their name on a server they could be reading. There is no point poking the bear. Just understand that the silence you find when you search is not proof there is nothing there. It is proof somebody is working very damn hard to keep it that way.

And I have made my peace with the part you are already chewing on. If they can pull a town off a satellite and wipe a man's wife out of his own photographs, why am I still here, loud, online, and not disappeared? I have turned that over for years, and the answer I keep landing on is not a comfortable one. They have not put me in some hole in the ground because the town let me go, and that makes me interesting to them. I am one of the few who got close and pulled back instead of getting kept. So I think the secret, and I am always going to keep that word in quotes, the secret organization is using me, maybe without my say-so, as a worm on a hook. They leave me wriggling out here in the open and they watch what swims up to take the bait. I think they are every bit as curious about what I am finding as I am, because the town is the one thing even they cannot fully read. So they let the amateur keep digging. They just make damn sure he never gets to keep the shovel. Which is why, in eleven years, I have only ever walked about a quarter of the way there. A quarter is as far as a worm is allowed to go.

I log what comes in. I triangulate the reports. I keep a map with pins that I have to move every few months because the cluster drifts northwest, slow, like something freakin breathing. And before you ask why one man gives eleven years to a town that is not supposed to exist, do not. I have a reason. It is mine, it is not for this page, and it is the one thing on this whole site I will never type out. This page is the evidence. The signs, the photos, the witnesses, the ones who didn't come back. Read it. Then close the tab and do NOT go looking for the green sign, because finding it is the easy part. It's the town deciding to keep you that you can't undo.

UPDATES

the file is old and I keep having to move servers out from under the people hunting them, so read the topbar date with a grain of salt.

A word, before anything else. I abhor social media. I want that on the record, in writing, notarized if I could manage it. The whole modern circus of it, the attention farming, the outrage engines, the psyops dressed up as little dance videos, it is a machine built to make you dumber and easier to steer, and I have said exactly that, loudly, for years, to anyone who would sit still long enough to hear it.

And do not mistake me for some technophobe shaking his fist at a cloud. I was here first, back when the thing was ours, before the corpos sank their hooks in and turned the town square into a weapon. I will have you know my digital presence predates this entire platform. Back in Martian Year 29, that is 2008 to you Earth-calendar casuals, my MySpace HTML code was completely immaculate. Tom was my friend before any of you even knew what an algorithm was.

So imagine the disgust I felt with my own self the day I realized that the very same machine is the single best tool ever built for getting a warning in front of a whole lot of eyes, fast. Fine. If it is a weapon, then for once in its miserable life it is going to get pointed the right damn direction.

So we have gone and made a Depart Texas Instagram, an "insta," as the kids are calling it. And here is the deal, and it is a good one. You send me your story, we post it. You send me actual photographs, the real article, and we will do our level best to pin them down before they slip. And when that photo evidence burns or breaks or degrades on you, and out here it always does, you write it down. Draw it. Crayon, cave painting, whatever you have got in front of you, AI if you must, I do not care, a reproduction from an honest witness is still evidence. And if you see anything out there, anything at all, we will document it, catalog it, and put it in front of the masses where nobody gets to quietly delete it. Because sunlight is the one thing this town has never once been able to survive.

And I will tell you something I do not say to the skeptics. I truly believe I am still walking around, still breathing, because something out there wants this place dragged into the light. Something is helping us. Something is keeping me on my feet long enough to do it. Call me crazy, you already do. So we are going to pave the internet with evidence, and we are going to follow the yellow brick road all the way to wherever it wants us to go.

Follow the file. ★ @deephearttx. Tell a friend. Tell an enemy. I do not much care who, so long as the word gets out ahead of the next poor soul who goes driving. Signed, "Guy," still out here, still not sleeping.

ENTRY 001  //  3:14 A.M.  //  the cloaking spell

I am tired tonight, so I will say it plain. Every paranormal thing on this continent, maybe the world, every Miami event, every creature that hides in our great forests, our wild jungles, the classified and banned arctic, the unchartable cave systems, or visits from outer space or inner realities, every anomalous entity, lives and thrives in the same habitat. Anonymity. And we built the habitat.

This is not new. Every culture, every civilization from the first recorded word, and further back, into the dark before anybody was writing things down, met the same creatures. The same ones. Always folding themselves into lore and relic. Always hiding in the shadow of doubt. Nothing out there hides, reader. It does not need to.

We cast the cloaking spell ourselves, and we renew it every damn day, with tools we did not forge. The instruments of the confounding are created somewhere above us and handed down, and we take them, and we use them. With the technology in our pockets, and go one step past the phone. I mean the thing that logs every square foot of ground your body crosses and runs quiet arithmetic on your mind, algorithms pegging you across metrics nobody voted on, your politics, your divisions, whether you read the spooky stories for fun or have started taking them seriously. That is not advertising, reader. That is a leash check. It is measuring whether the spell still holds you. We wear our own shackles willingly, and we charge them every night on the nightstand. Not me, baby! With the movies that turn every monster into a franchise with a lunchbox, and every guy like me into some crackpot antisocial conspiracy theorist who reads Catcher in the Rye and padlocks every item in his refrigerator. Granted, I lock up my coffee. I have my reasons. With the social media that grinds every sighting into content and every witness into a bit. With the AI that blurs the last line between what you saw and what is real. With the conspiracy circus that made the word theory a punchline. With the smug academia that shunned me, and I will not pretend that one is not personal. With motherfucking science, which proves a thing is not real until more science proves it is, the moment it benefits somebody. And with the oldest ritual of all, rolling our eyes at some poor soul standing in front of us shaking, saying they saw something. Something that does not exist. Something that should not exist.

The last great dark spell was sewn into you and me and everybody: the certainty that there is no real magic left, that all of it, all of it, is the fabrication of a deluded mind. Look at the design of that. A perfect trap of discreditation, and damn me for saying it, but it is a masterpiece. You see something, you say something, and the spell converts you from witness into symptom on the spot. A self-perpetuating machine, no operator required, running on our own smugness. Every debunking feeds it. Every eye-roll feeds it. It lays over the world like a blanket we knit ourselves, and under that blanket, the things that feed on us eat in peace and sleep like housecats.

Here is what the spell looks like on the ground. A man breaks clean out of his morning routine, takes an antique samurai sword down off its display stand, and waves it at nothing in a parking lot until the cops tackle him, and the whole time he is screaming that there are demons everywhere. What did you think just now? Same thing everybody thinks. He is crazy. He broke. Office job, quiet type, the poor loser finally had his breakdown. In this world? This economy? Who could blame the poor bastard. The comments type LOL and walk away, and the machine hums. You want to know the problem with that? Once you see it, you see it. And I did. I watched that clip more times than I will admit to, and I did not see a crazy man being tackled by cops. I saw shadows all around him, laughing in the periphery. No. That is not honest, and honest is all I have left. I saw one shadow. In the periphery. Laughing. And I said nothing, and you will say nothing too, lest ye wish to summon the men in white coats and join our samurai at whatever black site keeps him now. Or worse. Lobotomy is an old word, reader, but they still own the tools. Why kill the livestock when you can convert it into a sippy box.

Some nights I cannot tell you why I bother. The machine is perfect. It turns every witness into a punchline the second they open their mouths, and it needs no conspirators, because the conspiracy pumps through the machine’s veins, bled from our complicity to look away.

But I keep the light on, and here is why, stated once and plainly so nobody can twist it. I am not here to make you believe in monsters. I am not here to make you fear the dark. I do not want your belief, I have no use for it. My mission, the reason for every page in this damn file, is this: when you see it, and some of you will, I want you able to fight it. Because that is the true cost of the spell. If you do not believe, then the moment you finally see it, your brain breaks. The mythos of impossibility becomes its armor. It overwhelms your spirit before a claw is ever raised, it snaps your will to fight, and it takes you in your doubt. We have all been disarmed, every last one of us, and nobody so much as frisked us. That is all this site is, constant reader, true believer. I am handing weapons back.

Nothing got debunked. The evil of the world just got together and said, modern problems require modern solutions.

REPORT A SIGHTING

routes straight to my inbox. nothing goes public until I read it. that's the deal.

everything you send is logged, time-stamped, and added to the file by hand. I read every one, I answer the ones I can. Anonymous “Guy”, lead investigator, deepharttexas.com

the fine print, plain english: by sending your account you give me, my stringers, and the parties I work with the permanent right to publish it, edit it for length and for your safety, have it illustrated, and carry it forward into the archive and anything the archive becomes. print, ink, pixels, whatever medium survives. credited or anonymous, your call, say which in the report. your story stays yours to tell anywhere you damn well please, I do not own your memory, I am just allowed to pin it. no money changes hands in either direction.

*** NO PHOTOGRAPHS? SEND IT ANYWAY. ***

Words count. If all you have is what your own two eyes took in, write it plain and send it. I have a few stringers now, they illustrate and they research, and fair warning, the first thing they will do is vet you. We get hoaxers, we get bored kids, and one time we got a whole damn radio station, so everything gets checked before it gets filed. If your account passes muster, it gets typed up proper and entered into the archive.

*** PICTURES OR ARTWORK ***

None? Send it anyway. My stringers will draw it up in your words. No embellishment, drawn as you say it and nothing else, so your account hangs in the file with a face on it instead of a blank space. And if you do not mind who knows it was you, say so in the report, and when it posts we will tag you, so you can share it on the "gram," as the kids are calling it, and spread the word.

And if you would rather nobody know your name, then you stay anonymous, like a certain lead investigator you may have heard of, and nobody pries a name out of me. Ask the "secret" org, they have been trying since 1997.

One more thing, and I will keep it short, which the Forum will tell you I never do. Setting a thing down on the record is not therapy, it is carpentry. Every documented account is a nail driven into that thing's footprint, and a thing that moves hates a nail. Enough of them and it cannot lift its foot clean anymore. That is the whole damn operation, right there. You saw it. Say it. We pin it.

*** the archive remembers, even when the record gets edited ***

welcome to my nightmare

FOR THE UNINITIATED

the explainer I am tired of writing. for the skeptics in the back. one time.

For every last one of you who rolls your eyes. The debunkers. The armchair experts who have never once driven a farm road past midnight in their lives. The occam's-razor crowd, the you-just-got-turned-around crowd, the well-actually crowd. The ones who screenshot this page to laugh at it in a group chat. And everyone else who keeps filling my inbox calling it the hoax word. Fine. You want it plain? Here is what it is. Here is what I know for sure, and then I am going back to work.

Deep Heart, Texas is not a town. It is a region, and the town is just the part of it that has a name on a sign. Everybody treats this whole case like it is about one spooky house on a hill. The house is a problem. It is one problem out of a damn myriad. It is also the last one you will ever have.

So let me say this part slow, because it is the only advice on this whole site that might keep you breathing. If you see the house, run. I mean that. Nobody who has gone in has come out, not one, not ever. If you find yourself standing next to it, then you and I are already done talking, because that place is crawling, and that is exactly why you have never once met a person who made it to that house and walked back off the cliff. And ask yourself the question I cannot stop asking. What in the hell is a black house doing on top of a cliff out in the middle of nothing. I saw a picture of it once. One of my stringers had it, from multiple angles, good and clear. There was no front door. Not on any side. And every copy of those pictures burned up overnight. So run.

Because Deep Heart does not sit in one county, or one part of the state, or one anything. Most of what crosses my desk is a monster of the week, one person, one bad night, one shape in the trees, and most of it is nothing, wind and whiskey and bad nerves. But a fair stack of those accounts hold up once I have run them down. They seem legit. And a few of the legit ones, this is the part that turned my hair, cross-reference. They point back to the same region. A couple point back to the town itself. A hiker I will call Ben, camping out at Big Bend, is the one I keep coming back to. He walked out of the brush one evening and onto a Main Street, storefronts, streetlights, in country where there is no town for a hundred miles. Then he saw something on that street that scarred the "shite" out of him (literally, from what I am told), and he ran the other way so hard he put himself into a tree and knocked himself out cold. Woke the next morning with a chipped tooth and no town around him, just brush. I asked him what he saw. He could not tell me. Could not remember one detail of it, except the town. If the X-Files and the Twilight Zone had a baby and raised it out in the Texas brush, that is this whole region, and I am too damn tired to put it any better. So if you see it, kick rocks. That is all I will say about that.

And do not tell me to take it to the authorities. Regular law writes this off before you have finished the sentence. Eleven years, and I have met maybe a handful of law enforcement who actually ran into the thing themselves. Every one of them told me flat that they had not. But you can read a person. The body language. The way their eyes would not meet mine, the way they suddenly found something real interesting about their own shoes. And then, drop it, son. Leave it alone. Get yourself a hobby. I cannot get a single one of them on the record. Not one. And every time I try, all it does is paint another target on my back, on top of the one that is already there.

And understand what you are actually up against, because I am done being gentle about it. This is not a rumor. It is not some campfire story you tell to spook the new guy. It is something dark, covered in ambiguity, snuggled down inside overlapping Mandela effects, a thing that does not just hide from you, it rearranges what you remember so you can never be sure it was there at all. You have any idea how much gas money I have burned driving every corner of this state just trying to study it, bare minimum, get one clean look at the thing? I started this to stop it. Eleven years in, and I still cannot even find it.

So there is no cavalry coming. There is a man with a secondhand meter, a website, and a set of brass balls with incense burning in them, folk stuff, the kind of thing that is supposed to keep certain things at a distance. Do they work? I have no idea. I have just never once been willing to run the experiment where I let them go out. And there is you. If you are one of the sincere ones, if you really think you saw it, the wrong water, the green sign, the street that should not be there, then do not argue with me, help me. And let me be real clear before some wiseguy accuses me of running a grift. I am not asking you for money. This is not a scam. I am not selling you a pdf, a membership, or a damn crystal. Given that I am out here doing a public service on my own dime, I probably should be asking for gas money, people. But I am not. All I want, the only thing I have ever wanted, is information. Data. Data, data, data. You cannot make bricks without mortar, and right now I am a man trying to build a wall out of thin air. Send me your coordinates and your story. Every honest report I log lets me map where this thing surfaces and when, and if I can see the pattern I can start to forecast it, and if I can forecast it I can keep somebody's kid off the wrong road on the wrong night. That is the whole point of me. That is the only reason I am still out here. Coordinates and a story. That is how we save the next one.

THE ROAD SIGNS

physical evidence  //  6 confirmed, dozens claimed, ZERO shared coordinates

This is what everybody photographs first, and it's my best evidence that the thing moves. Standard TxDOT green. Standard reflective sheeting. Real as the screen you're reading. And every single one stands on a stretch of farm-to-market road that, on every official map I've pulled, dead-ends a mile short of where the sign is.

Damn it, I drove out to one in '99 with a GPS unit and a film camera and a notebook, found the sign, logged the position, went home. Came back six weeks later with the exact coordinates. No sign. No road. Fence line and mesquite. So either six different people are building identical highway signs out in the brush for fun, or, and I know how this sounds, the road and the sign go WITH the town when it relocates.

[ above: reconstructions, traced from three submitted photos by hand. the originals will NOT hold focus. eleven years. not one sharp sign. that's not the cameras. ]

And the road number is never the same damn thing twice. I have it photographed as FM 1620. I have it sworn to me as FM 1206. I have a faded Polaroid that clear as day reads FM 2160. Same four digits, shuffled, like the road cannot remember its own name, or like something keeps dealing them out again. The one that put the ice in my spine: a hunter logged FM 6201 back in '02, mailed me the photo, and when I wrote TxDOT to check it they answered on their own letterhead that they have NEVER assigned that number to any road in the state of Texas. Not retired. Not pending. Never issued. The man photographed a farm road that does not exist. Chew on that and then tell me again it is just folks getting lost.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

reader scans, mirrored here so they can't be quietly memory-holed

I host every one of these myself, on three servers, because twice now a photo got submitted and then deleted off the sender's own machine before they could send a second copy. Explain that one to me. I host them so they survive. If one's yours and you want it down, you know how to reach me. Damn near none of you ever write back, and I've stopped pretending that doesn't keep me up.

[ NOTE: drag-drop hosting is OFF on this build. real photo uploads route through the REPORT A SIGHTING page, it hits my inbox first. I post nothing I haven't looked at with my own eyes. ]

THE FIELD, WHAT IT DOES TO YOU AND YOUR GEAR

anonymous accounts, a secondhand meter, and zero proof. read this as a pattern, not a measurement.

Now we get to the soft part of the file, and I am going to be straight with you because honesty is the only currency I have got left. Everything past this line is anonymous. Anonymous accounts, anonymous sources, people who write me once at 3 a.m. and never again, about what they felt and saw in D-Part. That is what I call it, D-Part, because the locals will not say the real name out loud and the road sign already told you what to do. And it is not only that they will not say it. The ones who have actually been there split two ways, and both ways are wrong. Some forget it clean, a whole night torn out of them like a missing page, ask them a week later and there is nothing behind their eyes. The rest remember fine, and those are the worse ones to sit across from, because the second you press, the second you ask them to say the name or look at a photo, something in them reacts. Mental, emotional, physical, in varying degrees, and you do not get to pick which. Some just go quiet and change the subject. Some cannot hold your eyes. Some go cold, some go hot, a man who was friendly a minute ago is suddenly sweating and shaking at his own kitchen table wanting you out of his house. A flinch. A shut door. A nosebleed that starts for no reason at all. It is an aversion built into them, like the place reached back out and installed a lock. They do not want to say it. They do not want to talk about it. And the harder you push, the harder that damn lock holds. I believe these people. I cannot PROVE one word of it. I am one guy with a secondhand EMF meter and a geiger counter I bought off a ham radio board, not a lab, not a research team. So take all of it as what it is, a pattern I have collected, not a fact I can hand you.

My own theory, and it is only that, is that there is a field around D-Part. Something the accounts keep circling, a pressure, a wrongness, a charge in the air. My cheap meter twitches out near where the boundary is supposed to sit, but a cheap meter twitches at a microwave oven too, so I am not going to insult you by calling that evidence. What I put more stock in is the bodies. Strangers who never met report the same damn symptoms, the headache behind one eye, the nosebleed, the nausea, the metal taste, the arm hair standing up, and the missing time. The two-hour drive that took eleven minutes. I treat every bit of it as a SYMPTOM, a body reacting to something it is standing inside of. I just do not have a tool that can point at the something, and I am done pretending I do.

And I mean I really do not have the tool. Half joking, you would need something like a particle collider to track what bends out there, the kind of machine that costs a nation to build and a whole physics department to run. I have a secondhand meter and a bad feeling, that is the entire lab. But somebody DOES own rigs like that. Governments do. And the kind of outfit that can read a field I can only feel is the same kind that could pull a town off a satellite and wipe a forum thread inside a day. Maybe the reason I cannot measure D-Part is that a man with a meter off a ham radio board was never going to be allowed to.

The technology stories run the same way, and they are just as anecdotal, so hold them loose. GPS that lies. Compass needles that wander. Watches that drift and disagree. Phones dead on a full charge. Cameras that will not hold focus on the sign, every camera, every time, the EXIF wiped or stamped with a date that has not happened yet. I have no chain of custody on any of it. But when this many reports rhyme, from people who could not have coordinated if they tried, I write them down, and I start sleeping a little worse.

And then the things people see, which is where every serious person closes the tab, and I do not blame them. These are accounts, nothing more. I have never seen one myself. I have no photo that survives, no body, no proof, just a stack of reports that should not agree and do. Shapes in the treeline that hold too still. A figure down by the water shaped like a person and moving like something practicing at being one. The dead standing at the property line wearing a face you loved. They wear shapes. They favor the familiar. They come when you are compromised, drunk, grieving, exhausted, alone, or too damn sure of yourself. People call them cryptids, ghosts, aliens, whatever shelf fits their worldview. I do not name them, because naming a thing is how you invite it. I just log them. And I will tell you, D-Part has a freakin zoo of them, a whole countryside of the things, and not one I can put under glass. Seeing one clearly is rare. Seeing one twice is a sentence.

WITNESS ACCOUNTS

three I've vetted myself. more in the forum. all of them say the same damn thing about the distance.

» The one who got turned around., classic boundary rejection. the town didn't want him.

"I had good directions. Hit the sign that says DEEP HEART, TX right at sundown, hair stood up on my freakin arms, and next thing I know I'm pulling into a Valero in Junction forty minutes the WRONG way with no memory of turning around. Tank read full. I'd filled it before the sign. Still full.", kdubya, 1998

» The one it let in., note the time. ALWAYS note the time. it never matches the distance.

"It let me in. Be clear on that, because everyone asks how I 'found' it and that's the wrong question. You don't find Deep Heart. It decides. Two hours I spent in that town. Man at the feed store knew my late wife's name and I never told a soul. Drove out the same road in eleven minutes that took two HOURS going in. Haven't slept right since.", old_lon, posted to this board 2001

» The one who saw the house.

"From the cliff you see the lake first, black and flat, then the house, and every window's got a light in it and you understand without anybody saying so that the lights are not for you. Took one picture. Drove home. Did not get out of the car till sunup.", mariposa_rd, 1999

THE BACKLOG

the ledger. what is open, what is sorting, what stays sealed. updated when it is safe to update.

People keep emailing me the same damn question, what else do you have. Here is the honest answer, more than I can carry. Every entry below is a real folder in a fire safe that rides in my trunk from motel to motel. An investigation is not content. It is a chain of custody, witnesses, dates, physical evidence, and I do not post a case until I can hand you the whole chain without getting somebody hurt or erased. That is not caution, that is the Tammy lesson, and I only get to learn it once.

So this page is the backlog. When a folder is ready, its line lights up and you can open the file. Until then you get the name and the status, and the status is the truth. If a name on this list matches something you know, something you saw, something your grandmother would not talk about, do not wait for ol' Guy to finish. REPORT A SIGHTING and put the case number in it.

CASE 001: THE SINGULAR AFFAIR OF THE UNHAPPENED WIFE

or, THE TAMMY PARADOX. FILED UNDER: THE BACKLOG. subject: "Tammy." I do not use her real name. I am not sure her real name is hers to use anymore.
exhibit, sketch
SUBJECT: "TAMMY," NAME WITHHELD  //  INTERVIEWS: TWO, ONE RECORDED PHYSICAL EVIDENCE: PHOTOGRAPHS, ALTERED. OBSERVED, NOT RETAINED. STATUS: UNRESOLVED  //  FILE: OPEN

I. PREFATORY REMARKS, IN WHICH THE READER IS OWED AN EXPLANATION

You will notice this file reads different from the rest of the site, and I will not apologize for it. I own the complete Sherlock Holmes in three formats, paperback, hardcover, and a leather omnibus I saved two months for and do not regret. A case is not a blog post. A case is somebody's life with the lid off, and it deserves ceremony. So when ol' Guy sits down to write a case proper, he writes it the way Dr. John H. Watson, M.D. wrote his, a chronicle, set down faithful by the one man who was in the room. If that strikes you as a pretentious posture for a man with two EMF meters and a set of warded brass balls on his dash, kindly recall that the good doctor also spent his career recording impossible things nobody believed, and history came around on him.

II. IN WHICH A WOMAN WRITES TO ME

Twas early spring when the woman I shall call Tammy first reached out, and I confess I very nearly filed her among the ordinary answers. I have told you before, and it remains true, most of the missing come back to bad luck and bad men, and I am glad every time, because those cases close. Tammy presented as exactly that, a runaway, years gone, a girl who left a bad situation and got out clean. Then she said the word D-Part before I did. Mark that, reader. People do not say that word unprompted. Something puts it in their mouth.

III. THE ACCOUNT AS SHE GAVE IT

What she laid before me was plain, sober, and entirely without drama, which is precisely what made it sit so wrong. A hot afternoon, a riverbank, friends and beer, and Tammy gone tubing down water she had known her whole life. Then the weather turned, as it does out there, the sky went from blue to bruise in what she swore was minutes, and the dark came down too fast. She paddled for shore. And the shore she climbed out on, I set this down exactly as she said it, was not the river. Twas a lake. Too big, too still, too quiet. And across the water stood a town, lit in every window, where no lake and no town appear on any map she or I have ever found.

"It was the wrong water. I know river water and that was not river water, it did not move. And the town was awake, every window, but there was no sound coming off it. Towns make sound. That one was holding its breath." , Tammy, interview the first

She did not go toward it. Something in her, the good animal part the field has not figured out how to switch off yet, told her to put the water at her back and walk. Of the night that followed I will set down only part, for some of it is hers to keep, and some of it I have not got the stomach to retype at two in the morning. She described things. Shapes that wore people. A figure that called her name in a voice she knew, and should not have been able to hear out there. I record them here as testimony, not as fact, for I could verify none of the creatures she named, and I am always honest with you about the difference. But I logged every one in the dossier with the rest, because she believed it, and sitting across from her, damn it, so did I, and all of it fit patterns I have been mapping for eleven years. She walked out at first light. Reader, people do not walk out. That alone made her worth the drive back.

IV. THE RETURN VISIT, AND WHAT THE PHOTOGRAPHS DID NOT SHOW

Three weeks on I returned with better questions and a recorder. The man who answered Tammy's door informed me there was no Tammy. Informed me he had never been married. Said it twice, fast, before I had finished the asking of it. And here is where your chronicler must simply report, for I cannot explain. There were family photographs on the wall of that front room, and Tammy was in some and not in others, and the ones she was in had been altered. Cut. Reframed. A shoulder where a face should be. A gap in a row of people standing too close together. The man was lying to me, and he knew that I knew, and he was sweating through his shirt in a cold house. What was he protecting? I cannot say. It has since occurred to me, on the bad nights, that he may not have been protecting anything at all. He may have been edited too, left holding a life with a hole cut out of the middle, which he could feel and could not name.

V. DEDUCTIONS, SUCH AS THEY ARE

The great detective instructs us that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. Reader, I have owned that sentence in three formats and I am here to report its limits, for out past that farm road the impossible declines to be eliminated. Holmes never had to work D-Part. What I can state with confidence is this. A woman walked out of that country, which almost nobody does. She gave her account, sober and consistent, twice. And then something reached back and began erasing the evidence that she had ever walked into anything, including the evidence that she had ever existed. That is the paradox. It is not that Tammy went missing. It is that Tammy is being unhappened, and the file cannot close on a woman the record insists was never there.

VI. DISPOSITION OF THE CASE

Open, and it stays open. I will add, for the completeness a chronicle demands, that there was a fallout after. Leaving her ordinary little town felt the same in my chest as getting clear of D-Part, and it should not have. In the weeks that followed, people I never saw were asking after a man who matched me, and they kept asking until they lost me. That is the true reason ol' Guy lives the way he lives now, off the grid, off the count, cash only, moving the server. You do not get to know more than that, and you should thank me for it.

Tammy, if the field ever spits you all the way back and you find this page, the file is still open and your name is still out of it. I am still here. I am just harder to find now. Same as you.

A POSTSCRIPT, WHICH I RECORD UNDER PROTEST

The good doctor never chronicled his own dreams, and I understand now that this was not modesty, it was self-preservation. But a chronicle is a chronicle, and I said I would give you the whole chain, so. Sometimes I dream about her. Not often. Often enough that I have priced out what a therapist runs these days, and reader, they do not take cash from a man with no last name, I checked.

In the dreams she is standing in the room with me, wherever the room is that night, motel, truck bed, the one good couch I ever owned, and she looks exactly right. That is the part I want on the record. Not rotted, not glowing, none of the drive-in stuff. Exactly right. Except that she is already looking at me when the dream starts, like she has been waiting for it to start, and behind her, it does not matter what wall is actually there, there is water, and across the water there is a town with every window lit and no sound coming off it. She never says one word. She just holds out her hand, patient, the way you would for a child or an old man, and I understand, the way you understand things in dreams, with your whole stomach, that if that hand closes on my wrist we go together. Not die. Go. To the wrong water, to the town that holds its breath, to whatever address the record keeps for people it has finished erasing. And I do not take it. Even asleep I know better, so I stand there, and I do not take her hand. And she does not push. That is the terrible part, reader. She is patient. She stands with that hand out for what feels like the whole night, easy as a woman waiting on a bus, because she has nowhere else to be and she knows it is only a matter of time. And when I cannot take it anymore, when something in me finally hollers ENOUGH, that is when her patience runs out. That is when she changes. And she screams at me with everything a scream has except the sound.

I wake up before it closes. I want that sentence to end there, and it will not, so here is the whole of it, set down faithful. I wake up before it closes, so far. And a man who sleeps with the light on and the warded brass on the nightstand is allowed to say one superstitious thing in an official document, so here is mine. I do not think it is Tammy. Tammy fought that place to a draw, she would not run its errands. I think something out there wore her once, for a night, and liked the fit.

police sketch, the woman in the dream

exhibit: I had a stringer of mine do a police sketch of the woman in the dream. I described. He drew. He asked me twice if I was sure about the eyes. I was sure about the eyes.

THE MISSING

names changed where families asked. dates are real. I check them against the county every year.

This is the part of the file I hate. But somebody has to keep it, and the county sure as hell won't.

And before some armchair skeptic tells me people do not just vanish, here are the numbers I have been tracking for years. End of 2025, the FBI's own NCIC had 88,093 active missing person records still open in this country, and that is the LEFTOVER, what is still unsolved after the runaways come home and the easy cases close. Better than half a million reports get entered every single year. Most have ordinary answers, I will be the first to say it, custody runs, people who walk away from a life on purpose, the lost who turn up. I do not chase those. I chase the residue, the ones the explanations run out on. Texas alone logged 40,309 missing in 2025. We have had a state Missing Persons Clearinghouse since 1985 and the damn number never goes down.

And here is what nobody wants printed. There is no single database for the people who walk onto federal land and never walk back off. The Park Service, the Forest Service, the BLM, not one of them keeps an honest, public, running count of who disappears on the ground they manage. There was a bill written to force those cases into the national system, it stalled in Congress and went freakin nowhere. The one list the Park Service did cough up ran about 1,100 names and they admitted that was a fraction. Sit with that. The agencies that own the wildest country we have got cannot, or will not, tell you how many souls it has eaten. I have pins in Big Bend, where searches go cold in terrain that swallows radios whole. I have pins all up the Hill Country, the same limestone and ravines and dead spots Deep Heart hides inside. That official silence is not comfort. It is the exact shape of the hole Deep Heart lives in.

• Two hikers, spring '94. Filed a Hill Country route. Never checked out of it.
• A family that bought acreage near "the boundary." The house still stands. They don't.
• A state survey crew, mid-90s. Lost radio, never located. The county has NO record they were ever assigned. I have the work order. They scrubbed it.
• An urban explorer who posted his entry to THIS forum in real time, photo by photo, and went quiet at 2:14 a.m. Account's still here. Read it below if you've got the stomach.

Folks out there learned a long time ago not to say the name out loud. They call it bad luck. That's them being polite. I think they know damn well it's listening.

THE GUESTBOOK

every entry below was read by me and typed in by hand. that is not old-fashioned, that is the only way the machine does not get a vote. entries appear when I say so.

entries go to my inbox first. the good, the strange, and the true get transcribed below, by hand, when I get to it. the bots get the wood chipper.

been reading since the old single page days. glad the archive survived the server move. the road sign section is the one I show people.

my grandmother would not drive the farm roads after dark and never told us why. this site is the closest thing to an answer I ever found. keep the light on.

drove FM 1620 tonight on a dare. sign was THERE. DEEP HEART, TX. turned around at the cattle guard like a coward and i am not sorry. my dog would not quit whining the whole stretch.

log the coordinates of that cattle guard for me. I mean it. last three 1620 reports were 9 miles apart. it's drifting NW and your dog felt the gauss before you felt a damn thing. animals read the field first, every time.

^ admin's right. i run hot shot loads all over the hill country and i'll add 40 miles before i take 1620 after dark now. it's never in the same spot twice. learned the hard way.

wait, which road though. my cousin swears the marker read FM 1206, not 1620. are these two different roads??
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)
, Wed 06/29, 12:51 AM
it is not two roads. it is one road that will not keep its own number. I have 1620, 1206, and 2160 in the file, the same four digits shuffled every single time. and one, FM 6201, that TxDOT put in writing was NEVER assigned to anything. your cousin is not wrong. nobody is wrong. that is the whole damn problem.

guys it's an urban legend. a town can't "move." you're describing getting lost on rural roads at night. occam's razor.
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)
, Wed 06/29, 1:09 AM
steve I have SIX confirmed signs at six non-matching coordinates and a survey crew the state pretends it never hired. occam's razor cuts the OTHER way, damn it, the simplest explanation that fits ALL the data is that it doesn't stay put. "you got lost" doesn't explain identical signs 9 miles apart. sit down.

ok i cracked it. this whole site is viral marketing. it's an ARG for a novel. "redacted author," spooky webring, mysterious admin. found the angle GUY. nice try, where do i preorder lol
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)
, Wed 06/29, 1:13 AM
No. The book is historical fiction, a completely separate freakin thing, and yes, the author's identity is protected, redacted for his own protection until we launch, that part you got right. But I am not his marketing department. I am ASSISTING him, collecting field reports, signs, coordinates, the same archive you are reading right now. He is writing about Deep Heart because it is REAL. He did not invent a town to move copies. Get your order of operations straight.

so you ADMIT there's a book lol. case closed. deep heart is a myth you cooked up for promo. it's not real, it's not even anywhere online except THIS page. that's not "suppression" bud. that's just a made up town.
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)
, Wed 06/29, 1:16 AM
Oh my GOD. Have you not READ the page? I will type this slowly so it penetrates the skull. It is not online BECAUSE it is scrubbed. I documented that two screens up, with examples, which you clearly skipped on your sprint to being smug. The reports start in '94. The book is being written NOW. You cannot invent a town to promote a book that did not exist when the survey crew vanished, unless you would also like to argue the missing hikers were a freakin pre-order bonus. I have been logging this since before you had dial-up, child. Worst. theory. ever. Read. The. Page.

not trying to start anything but have you actually MET this author? like in person? what's he even like
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)
, Wed 06/29, 1:31 AM
Once or twice. I am not going to say much, it is not my story to tell. I will say this and then I am dropping it. I think he was IN D-Part. I think it spit him back out, the way it does with a few of them, and I do not think he came back whole. He does not sleep. From the little he lets slip, the nightmares are not really nightmares, they are receipts. I do not push him on it. The man is twitchy as a cut wire and I have learned not to be the one who makes him flinch. He is writing it all down because that is the only way he knows to get it out of his skull. I am just keeping the file.
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)

STANDING REQUEST, and I will keep saying it. If you had a photo and it erased itself, do not go quiet on me. DRAW it. Sketch what you saw, paint it, render it from memory however rough your hand is. A reproduction from a witness is still data. Send it in and I will hold it against the reserve I already keep, the descriptions that match across people who never met, and I will catalog it. And hear me on this part. Crayons, charcoal, AI, a napkin doodle, whatever you have got in front of you, I do not care. A clean photograph or a kid's crayon scrawl of the figure by the water, it all goes in the same file. Anything is welcomed. Getting word of this phenomenon in front of more eyes is the mission now. Awareness is the mission. That is how you fight a thing that survives by being forgotten and unrecorded. If you saw something, say something. Right?

wow. so THAT'S the angle. you're gonna have people draw "fan art" for your little horror story and then spread it all over the internet for you. real cute. real good guerrilla marketing, GUY. preorder the book yet?
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)
, Wed 06/29, 1:44 AM
Permit me to address your theory with the exact seriousness it has earned, which is a measured and complete amount, because I am tired, you are persistent, and one of us should leave this thread educated. You have produced a term, and I will hold it at arm's length the way one holds a wet sock. "Fan art." No. We do not post "fan art" on this board. We post rendered evidence, the testimony of the eye relayed by the hand because the camera was not permitted to keep it. When a witness who cannot photograph a thing sits down and reproduces it from memory, and that reproduction independently matches forty others from people who have never once spoken to each other, that is not a fandom, child. That is corroboration, the same instrument the courtroom sketch artist and the cave painter have used since long before your favorite little phrase was coined. So allow me to be quoted plainly, since you will misquote me otherwise: post rendered evidence. "fan art" is more than welcomed. Spread it to the ends of the damn internet. And if raising awareness of this thing is "marketing," then I am the single worst marketer who has ever drawn breath, because my product is a town that eats people and my entire call to action is do not go. Now sit down.

does anyone else's photo come out blurry no matter the camera? i've used three. the sign NEVER holds focus. everything else in frame is sharp. just not the sign.
ANONYMOUS "GUY" (admin)

every. single. one. hundreds of submissions, not one sharp sign. damn cameras aren't the variable when the camera changes and the result doesn't. the SIGN is the variable. it doesn't want to be fixed in place, not on a map, not in a photo.
